Normally air oxidizes the silver changing its colors with yellow, blu or black hues.
It must be frequently polished with a soft cloth.
Spotted silver can be cleaned with dedicated products or with a soft cloth moisted with water and bicarbonate.

Silver is alloyed to fixed copper percentages. The legal silver titles are:
- 800 (circled): alloy formed with 800 silver parts and 200 copper parts;
- 925 (circled): alloy formed with 925 silver parts and 75 copper parts;
The manufacturer's brand (legally granted) must be put beside the title, too.
